colville Street Patisserie

The Colville Street Patisserie offers a spartan and sleek modern atmosphere to enjoy espresso, coffee, an extensive tea menu, as well as gelato and some of the best pastries, croissants and baked goods in Walla Walla. Expect a latte and chocolate croissant to cost around $7.

Bacon and eggs

Bacon and Eggs, in their new downtown Main Street location, offers a breakfast and lunch menu inspired by local agriculture and the Farm-to-Table movement. Their menu boasts all the classic breakfast fare, from Eggs Benedict to pancakes and waffles, as well as house specialities drawing on Mexican influences. Their espresso bar, serving Portland’s own Stumptown coffee, and cocktail menu compliment their culinary offerings. Expect bottomless coffee and Huevos Rancheros to cost around $13. Reservations are a good idea.

The Walla walla bread company

The Walla Walla Bread Company offers a fantastic breakfast and lunch menu, featuring classic breakfast fare with an artisan twist, as well as sandwiches, pizza, and other fare using ingredients from local farms. Their new location in downtown Walla Walla boasts sleek design and lots of natural light, as well as a view of the kitchen where bread, pastries, cookies and much more are made all day long. They also boast an espresso bar and selection of beer and wine. Expect espresso and the best breakfast sandwich in Walla Walla to cost $12.

Olive offers an espresso bar, coffee, tea, baked goods and lunch offerings ranging from homemade pizza featuring local ingredients to sandwiches and salads. The space offers ample seating in a renovated historic building downtown. Olive also boasts an artisan selection of cheeses, breads and a wine list featuring many local vineyards, as well as a selection of craft beer. Expect coffee and a Roasted Lamb sandwich to cost $15.

Graze is one of the Walla Walla valley and Tri-Cities area’s best sandwich spots and a favorite amongst Whitman students. Offering a downtown location on Colville Street, a drive-thru location on Ninth Street, and two location in the Tri-Cities, Graze boasts delicious paninis, tortas, soups, and salads. They also offer beer and soft drinks. Expect a Flank Steak Torta and a San Pellegrino to cost around $12.

Tacos La monarca

Tacos La Monarca offers fantastic Mexican fare served out of a food truck. Whether its tacos, quesadillas, burritos or tortas, La Monarca consistently offers delicious food at a reasonable price. Expect a Walla Walla chicken torta to cost around $7. Call ahead to find out the truck’s location!

grandma's kitchen

Grandma’s Kitchen offers what is arguably the best Mexican food in town. The quaint atmosphere of the restaurant, located downtown, is well-suited to the fact that you can often find the eponymous Grandma in the kitchen. Whether its huaraches, burritos, nopales, or elote, the food is delicious and modestly priced. Expect an order of two tacos and a Dos Equis to cost around $11. Reservations are accepted, but not usually necessary.

Whoopemup Hollow Cafe specializes in the food of the American South at their downtown Walla Walla location and at their original location in Waitsburg, about a 30 minute drive from Walla Walla. From jambalaya, to crayfish, oysters and other Cajun treats, Whoopemup is an excellent spot for lunch or dinner. Expect gumbo and hushpuppies to cost about $25.

Brasserie Four

Brasserie Four, located in the heart of downtown Walla Walla, offers the best French cuisine in the valley. With a wine selection offering a wide array of both European and local vineyards and a well-stocked bar, you are sure to be well fed and watered before leaving. Brasserie Four's pared-down atmosphere, situated in a historic Walla Walla storefront, presents an excellent venue to enjoy some of the best food and drink to be found this side of Seattle. Expect wine, escargot and steak frites to cost around $50. Reservations are a good idea.

Passatempo taverna

Passatempo Taverna is the latest addition to Walla Walla's fine dining scene - located in a recently renovated historic space on West Main Street, the restaurant offers delicious Italian eats from chef Mike Easton, with pasta, bread and much more made fresh in house each day. Passatempo also boasts an extensive cocktail bar, curated by self-described "cocktail iconoclast" and Walla Walla restauranteur Jim German. Complete with a beautiful outdoor patio and a private dining room in partnership with the local Walls Vineyard, Passatempo is certainly not to be missed. Expect antipasti, a cocktail, and the delicious Pollo D’Avola to cost around $60. Reservations are a good idea.

Saffron offers Walla Walla's finest contemporary Mediterranean cuisine as well as a fantastically curated bar and wine list. Featuring dishes from around the Mediterranean with Saffron's own particular twist, the menu includes house-made pastas, flatbreads, seafood dishes, as well as masterfully cooked meat dishes. Expect a glass of wine, unimaginably buttery Beef Cheeks, and Monkfish Kefta Tagine to cost around $50. Reservations are a good idea.
